For starters, I was born in India, and my parents came as immigrants to the United States when I was very young. I’ve stayed in touch with my Indian culture, and I believe that coming from a different background and experiencing a mix of cultures first hand has made me a better psychiatrist. I also feel that I have become more in tune with and able to relate to my clients and their families after having my child.
I grew up in Tennessee and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN. I then went on to residency and fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Since completing my fellowship, I’ve worked in different states and in different settings. This gave me the opportunity to work with clients and families from a broad range of backgrounds.
I moved to New Jersey with my family in the summer of 2019, and I decided that it was the right time in my life to start this clinic. My main focus for this clinic is in providing high quality care for children, adolescents, and their families. I am also the President of the New Jersey Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, where I strive to promote the professional needs of child and adolescent psychiatrists and promote the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, research, and clinical practice.
I hope that I can provide a valuable service to this community, and I will use my clinical knowledge and past experiences to enhance the lives of my clients and families.
Children and adolescents have the ability to choose their own paths…as caregivers, we must allow them to venture off and continue to be their unwavering guideposts.
